2 Trophy Pikes in 3 Casts!

¿Sabes esos días en los que no sabes ni como, en media hora ya la has liado parda? Este fue uno de esos días J

Do you know this kind on days, where you land more than one trophy fish just in a few minutes? It was one of these days J

Botamos la barca prontito, y empezamos a navegar, sin un rumbo muy definido, la verdad, hasta que decidimos empezar a pescar. Zonas entre 15 y 20 metros de profundidad, llenas de árboles sumergidos.

We wake up soon, to put the boat in the water with the first light of the morning. To be honest, we start sailing without a precise direction, and suddenly, we stopped the boat to star fishing. We made the first cast over a deep area, 36 to 60 feet of depth, and full of sinking trees.

En el primer lance comprobamos, tanto mi compañero como yo, la naturaleza del fondo, con un doblete de enganchones. Y en el tercer lance, estoy dejando bajar un lipless de 120 gramos hasta el fondo, y de repente, la línea pega un golpe seco y se detiene. A lo que yo respondí tensando la línea, seguido de una enérgica clavada.

We (me and my buddy) could test the nature of the bottom in the first cast, with a double tree hook! But the show was close to come, and in the third cast I was feeling my 124 XH Flatt Shad falling, meanwhile I felt a hit on the line, and the line stopped. I recovered the tension and I set the hook.

Creíamos que era un pez de 2 kilos hasta que, al estar cerca del barco, la línea empezó a irse de lado, y ya no subía más. En ese momento, se pegó un par de carreras hacia el fondo, y después de 6 o 7 bombeadas, salió a flote. Era precioso: grande, gordo y 100% sano.

We thought it was a 2 kilos fish, until it stat going paralel to the surface. He didnt wanted to see the surface! He run 2 times, bottom direction, and then he arrived to the boat. He was so pretty, fat and big!

Después de unas fotos, lo liberamos y seguimos con la marcha. El día prometía, y según se había sucedido esta captura, nos daba a entender que los lucios podían estar cazando, suspendidos, encima de los árboles. Así que con ese patrón en la cabeza, hago un lance más, nada. Hago otro lance, muy largo, dejo hundir y me pongo a recoger lineal. A 10 metros de la barca tuve un picadón de esos que casi te quitan la caña de las manos, y tras un combate espectacular, sube otro lucio del mismo nivel que el anterior. 2 lucios trofeo en 3 lances.

After making a few pictures, we release it and we came back fishing. So, in the third cast of the day, wegot a big fish, and a good pattern. Pikes where suspended, in the top of the trees, in more or less 20 meters deep. So thinking in the new pattern, I made the first cast, nothing, and then, I made a long cast. I waited the lure touched the bottom, and I started continuous reeling, and just 10 meters from the boat, I got a huge bite. We landed other big one, very similar than the last one. 2 Trophy pikes in 3 casts... Are you kidding me????

Pablo me quería tirar del barco, y lo entiendo. Pero el Flatt Shad 124mm XH es una máquina de sacar lucios grandes, ahí queda demostrado una vez más. Así que no te enfades conmigo compañero, yo no tengo la culpa XD

Pablo wanted to throw me to the water, and I agree! But the Flat Shad 124XH is a big pike machine, and here I show it one more time! So don't be angry with me, I'm not guilty XD

Después de darle un poquito más de caña al lucio, sin mucho éxito, decidimos probar con señuelos más pequeños (Flatt Shad 96 y 66 XH), en busca de alguna lucioperca. Un par de enanas y un luciete.

We invest a few more minutes trying to catch another big pike, but we were not (more) lucky. So we decided to change to smaller lures, looking for the zanders. We caught 2 small draculas and a baby pike!

                                                             This is not bitting, this is shallowing!

                                                            I just love the fins of these animals.

                                                       They don’t care about the size of the lure!

Y para poner el broche final a un día de pesca más que divertido, ¡Pablo se marcó un muy buen bass con una spinner de 40 gramos! Sebile Spinner Pro Shad.

To put the Cherry in the top of the cake, my buddy caught a cool LMB with a 1-1/2 oz spinner, the Sebile Spinner ProShad.

Pargo Roquero & Sebile Splasher

Es mi primer día libre, después de 1 mes de duro trabajo, así que ya sabéis lo que toca… Pescar!!! :-D
After 1 month of hard work it's my first free day so I go Fishing!!! :-D

Conozco perfectamente la isla, ya que la he visto todos los días navegando con el barco, pero no tengo ni idea de que spots son buenos y cuales no lo son. No solemos pescarla, porque la gente de aquí te roba los spots y luego los mutilan haciendo pesca submarina, así que siempre pescamos otras islas que no están habitadas, lejos de miradas curiosas.

I know the island well, due I've seen it sailing with the boat, but I have no idea what spots are good and which are not. We do not usually fish the island, because the people here steals the spots and then mutilated it by spearfishing, so we always go fishing uninhabited islands, far away from prying eyes.

En busca de puntas rocosas con profundidad, por dónde pase la corriente, me dirijo a la parte sur de la isla. Aparco el coche al final del camino, y después de andar por la playa más larga de la zona, unos 500 metros, empieza el festival de rocas. Resbaladizas como una pista de patinaje, y cortantes como un cuchillo. No son para nada porosas, por lo que mis Merrel especiales para barrancos, aquí no sirven para nada, me patinan como si fuese descalzo.

Looking for deep rocky points with current, I turn to the south of the island. I park the car at the end of the road, and after walking from the longest beach of the area, about 500 meters, the rock festival begins. Slippery as a skating rink, and cutting like a knife. They are not at all porous, so my Merrel specials ravines, here are useless, I slide as if it were barefoot.

Tras 100 metros de yincana por las rocas, esquivando árboles caídos y escalando, llego a la punta en cuestión. Creo que me costó más de 5 minutos hacer estos 100 metros, pero es mejor asegurar cada paso que romperte una pierna, ¿no?

After 100 meters scavenger hunt through the rocks, dodging fallen trees and climbing, I reached the point in question. I think it cost me more than 5 minutes to make these 100 meters, but it is better ensure every step than break a leg, right?

Monto el Splasher Salt&Sun, ultra reforzado, por lo que pueda pasar… Busco una piedra cerca del agua, falco los pies en 2 huecos para no irme al agua al lanzar o cuando piquen y empiezo a pescar. Primer lance, aguja de mierda; la desclavo y al agua. Segundo lance, me pega un bocado una aguja, que gracias a Dios no se clava, y al momento se me levanta una sombra oscura y me pega bien duro.

I rig the Salt & Sun Splasher, ultra reinforced by what might happen ... I look a stone near the water and I assure the feet in 2 holes to not leave the water casting or when I get a bite and I start fishing. First cast l hook a shitty needlefish; I take out the hook and I release it. Second cast, I get a bige of another needle, which thankfully does not hook, and then I saw a dark shadow and hits me really hard

No me fui al agua de la picada de milagro, porque llevaba el freno más que duro. Me saca como 10 metros, yo colgando de la caña totalmente echado hacia detrás, y se me enroca! Le destenso 2 segundos y le meto presión máxima, y consigo sacarlo. Entonces se me empieza a ir de lado, así que me toca ir saltando de piedra en piedra como si tuviera una guindilla en el culo, jugándome una buena ostia, para que no me parta con las piedras. Incluso le abrí el pick up en una ocasión al notar el roce de una piedra. Salió todo perfecto, y a los pocos segundos tenía esta preciosidad de Pargo Roquero en mis pies.

I did not go to water the bite of miracle, because my brake was close to be bloked.The fish won me like 10 meters, I was hanging back of the rod, and he stuck in the rocks! I unstrung 2 seconds and then I put maximum pressure, and It came out. Then it starts to go sideways, so I have to jump from rock to rock as having a chilli in the ass, playing with the dead, to not get a cut line with the stones. I even opened the pick up once when I felt the line was touching a rock. It all came out perfect, and within seconds I had this gorgeous Rocker Snapper on my feet.

I made some fast auto pictures and I release it in perfect conditions this awesome fish.

 

Me he dado cuenta que necesito un medio de flotación para pescar aquí, ya que un día me voy a abrir la cabeza con una roca, aparte que lo más normal cuando clavas un pez guapo en este tipo de spots es que te reviente todo. Así que voy a darles descanso a los peces grandes hasta que encuentre algo para flotar.

I've realized that I need a flotation medium to fish here, because one day I’m going to open the head with a rock, besides it's natural when you hook a big fish in these spots is that you bust all. So I'm going to give rest to the big fish until I find something to float.

“Hard life” & Light Jigging

He trabajado más en un mes que en toda mi vida. De 6 de la mañana hasta las 8 de la tarde, todos los días. Y cuando salimos del agua, 30 minutos de ejercicio para ponerme en forma, porque aquí o estás físicamente perfecto, o estás muerto.

I had been working in one month more than in my entire life. From 6 am until 8 pm every single day. And when we stop fishing, I do 30 minutes of exercise to get fit, because here you're physically perfect, or you're dead.

Parece una tortura más que un sueño cumplido, pero ahora viene la parte buena. Y es que cobrar un sueldo por hacer nudos y fotos, desclavar peces y hacer que la gente disfrute, no tiene precio. Aparte de vivir en el paraíso,  y hacer sesión se jacuzzi  y mojito todos los días, para relajar la espalda… jajajaajaja

It looks more a torture than a dream, but now it comes the good part. Get a paycheck by making knots and photos, unhook fish and make people enjoy, is priceless. Apart from living in paradise, and make jacuzzi and mojito session every day, to relax your back ... ahahahaha

La semana que viene tendré 6 días para pescar a mi rollo, así que me iré a ver las posibilidades de pesca inshore de la isla. Para el que no sepa dónde estoy viviendo exactamente, que busque en google isla Contadora, y ahí estoy. El lugar más coolexclusivochic de todo Panamá. En la siguiente entrada del blog toca descripción de la isla, que no tiene desperdicio.

Next week I'll have six days for fishing alone, so I'm going to see the possibilities of inshore fishing on the island. For those who do not know exactly where I am living, look in google Contadora Island, and here I am. The place more coolexclusivechic around Panama. In the next story, I will write a description of the island, which has no waste.

Bueno, a lo que vamos. Estas 2 semanas han sido muy buenas respecto a pesca, y se han cumplido las expectativas de muchos clientes. Cuberas, gallos, pargos de todo tipo, pompanos, jacks tochos, serviolas…. Y todo a popper! Nunca había pescado en un lugar en el que el Popper no tuviera rival, pero ahora sí. Cuando alguien me pregunta… ¿Qué señuelo pongo? La respuesta siempre es… ¡¡Popper!! No entiendo por qué, pero el Popper se pule por goleada al resto de señuelos. A partir del segundo día de pesca, nadie pregunta, Popper everybody! XD

Fishing had been very good the last 2 weeks, beating the expectations of many customers. Cubera, roosters, snappers of all kinds, pompanos, big size jacks, amberjacks. ... And all with popper! I never fish in a place that Popper had no rival, but now I do. When someone asks me ... What lure I rig? The answer is always ... Popper !! I do not understand why, but the popper is the Capo. From the second day of fishing, none ask me about the lure, Popper for everybody! XD

En un par de ratos libres me he cogido un "kayak" que tenemos por aquí, y he salido a probar un poquito de light jigging, y la verdad no daba crédito a lo que iba viendo. Dejaba caer el Fast Cast de Sebile (entre 14 y 40 gramos, dependiendo de la deriva y la corriente) y tenía picadas cada 5 segundos, de todo tipo de peces. Más de 15 especies en 2 días, no sería capar de acordarme de todas, Cubera, pargos, 2 tipos de ballestas, serviolas, peces globo, meros, trompetas, jureles mutantes y cosas varias... El equipo que he utilizado, una caña de casting hasta media onza, con el Revo Toro Nacl 51 ful de Spyderwire 30lbs y bajo de Trilene 100% fluoro 20lbs.

I had been fishing with a kayak just a few hours, looking for the possibilities of the light jigging, and it was too good. Just drop the Sebile Fast Cast (from 14 to 40 grs, depending of the drift speed and depth), and I got a bite every 5 seconds. More than 15 different species in 2 days: Cubera, snappers, jacks, groupers, amberjak.... The tackle I was using, A casting rod up to half ounce, with the new Revo Toro Nacl 51 full of Spyderwire 30lbs and flouro leader 20lbs, Trilene.

Dejo un par de fotos de peces capturados desde la orilla, ya que el Fast Cast también es una máquina para pescar a pie, sobre todo por el lance que tiene... Espectacular!

I leave 2 picts of fish caught by the shore, because the Fast Cast is also one of my favorite weapons to shore fishing, due his awesome cast distance.
